Toddlers

At around 18 months we find the children are ready to move through to the toddler room and become an ‘Owl’.

This is a crucial time for developing social and language skills in preparation for the Pre-School.

The staff will encourage your child to widen their vocabulary via stories, singing and joining in with their play.

Through creative and messy play your child will be introduced to colours, shapes and numbers.  They will also be able to investigate new tools such as scissors and stencils.

The layout of the room with low level equipment allow your child to be independent in their learning and free flow between activities of their choice both inside and out.

There is a quiet area where your child will be able to relax on cushions and look at books, and a role play area to dress up and pretend

Connected to the room is a comfortable, relaxing sleep room and a nappy changing facility with potties and toilets.

When it comes to potty training we will work with you when your child is ready so that it is a happy and fun experience.

Birth to Three Matters

For children under the age of three, we follow a Framework called ‘Birth to Three Matters’.  This is designed to support children in their earliest learning, by allowing us to value, celebrate and recognise their individuality, efforts and achievements. In turn we are then able to highlight the relationship between growth, learning, development and the environment in which the children are cared for.

‘Birth to Three Matters’ covers four main aspects, which are:

A strong child

A skilful communicator

A competent learner

A Healthy child
