Our ‘Parent Friendly’ approach
At The Vicarage Nursery and Pre-School we believe that high quality childcare can only be achieved by working closely with parents; as we recognise that you are the first and most important educators in a child’s life.
By working with, and listening to you, we can find out about your child’s individual personality and interests, which will enhance their well being, development and progress at nursery by creating a home from home.
We aim to ensure that the service we provide meets the needs and priorities of you and your child.
Parents knowledge and expertise is valued at nursery and we welcome parental involvement in the life of the nursery.
‘Key Person’
Each child who attends the nursery is allocated a dedicated ‘Key Person’. A ‘Key Person’ has special responsibilities working with a small number of children, giving them reassurance to feel safe and cared for; and to build strong relationships with you the parent.
The ‘Key Person’ will help your children to become familiar with the nursery, and ensure their individual needs are met. They will talk to you regularly to ensure that the information we hold on your child is up to date.
The ‘Key Person’ keeps records of your child’s Development and Progress, and shares this with you atParents Evenings. On a daily basis they write ‘Homebooks’to let you know about your child’s day.
Our Childcare Practitioners
In order for us to provide high quality childcare we ensure that all our nursery practitioners are either qualified to a level 3 standard; or have relevant nursery experience and are training in child care. We operate above OFSTED requirements by having a minimum of 75% of our staff qualified to a level 3, and hold a valid First Aid Certificate.
All staff are checked by the Criminal Records Bureau, references sought, and have to complete a 3 months probation period before the position is permanent.
We do not rely on qualifications alone but look for a warm and friendly personality; and someone who is dedicated to working with the under 5’s.
Being Safe
Your child’s safety is of vital importance to us and we pride ourselves on our safety measures.
The entrance to our nursery is protected by finger print security, which only allows authorised personnel into the building.
All visitors are expected to provide adequate identification, sign the Visitors Book and wear an identification badge.
For the safety and security of children and staff, we have CCTV through out the main playrooms, gardens, and entrance which is monitored by management.
For further details on our health and safety procedures please refer to our Health and Safety Policy.
