Baby Care

For our youngest children we provide two separate rooms; the babies are separated into walkers and non-walkers.

 Our non-walkers are known as ‘Hedgehogs’.

The room is bright, spacious, welcoming and homely.

Low level furniture contains age appropriate toys; which along with eye level display boards and mobiles stimulate the babies senses and encourages them to explore.

The staff will interact with your baby through cuddles, eye contact, smiles, singing, stories and talking to them. Your baby will be provided with a variety of learning opportunities and activities to help them reach the next stage of their development. For example learning to roll over, sit, crawl and walk. They are given the opportunity to try out messy activities such as finger painting and feeling the textures of goop.

The day for your baby will be based around the routine you have at home. We will keep to any bottle or sleep times that you may have, as this allows your baby to settle easily into nursery life and feel secure in their new surroundings.

Connected to the room is nappy changing facilities, milk kitchen and a comfortable, relaxing sleep room.

Once your child is confident on their feet they will have regular visits to the walkers room; and become a ‘Squirrel’. This will be at a time when both you and your child are ready and happy to do so.

The Squirrel’s are provided with ample opportunity to use their imagination, explore the world around them, and develop their physical and social skills.

The low level furniture allows your child to be independent and choose the toys they wish to play with.

The day is more structured, but still flexible to allow for your child’s individual needs.

Your child will be encouraged to take part in group activities such as singing, flash cards, music and movement and games to promote sharing.

In the creative area your child is given opportunities to express themselves via painting, sticking and messy play.

Connected to the room is nappy changing facilities and a Comfortable, relaxing sleep room.
